I've been searching for a while for the perfect modern reel
to go along with my bamboo rods and I found a great option
with the new Solitude fly reels.
What I look for in a reel is quality of build,
tight machining tolerances, smooth operation, a strong drag
with a huge range of adjustment that is extremely smooth with
no jumps, backlash or startup inertia, silent no-click
operation, a standard arbor with a reasonably classic looking design
and all at a price point presenting a good value. I have put
these reels through just about every possible fishing situation from
tropical to well below freezing and on fish ranging from a
few ounces to 30 pounds and more. After all that,
I have been 100% satisfied with the performance so I feel
